Scanning and Acquiring Pages

ImageGear provides the following methods of the IGTwainCtl Control component to actually scan and acquire images:

AcquireToDoc Method - Acquires multiple pages from an automatic document feeder, creating an IGDocument Object. You must specify either Native or Buffered Transfer Syntax when using AcquireToDoc Method.
AcquireToFile Method - Acquires multiple pages from an automatic document feeder, creating a multi-page file on disk. You must specify either Native or Buffered Transfer Syntax when using AcquireToFile Method.
AcquireToPage Method - Acquires a single page from the flatbed. If you specify either Native or Buffered Transfer Syntax, then the image will be acquired to an IGPage Object. If you specify Disk File Transfer Syntax, then the image will be written directly to disk by the Data Source.

AcquireToFile Method can save to any of the file formats supported by ImageGear. TIFF is the most commonly used file format for storing multi-page documents when using the ADF. However, any of the supported formats that store one image per file, such as Windows Bitmap (BMP), can also be used for scanning multiple pages. A separate file is created for each image. For example, if you name a 3-page file PICTURE.BMP, three files are created (one for each image), and their names are PICTURE.BMP, PICTUR1.BMP, and PICTUR2.BMP.

If you are using the AcquireToPage Method and the Disk File Transfer mode, you are constrained in your choice of file format both by what formats your device supports and what formats TWAIN supports. Currently, TWAIN supports BMP, PICT, TIFF, XMB, and JPEG.
