Property Description
Recognition Engine

The Recognition Engine specifies which OMR Processing mechanism to use to analyze the OMR field. The recommended and default value for this property is “SingleThreshold”.

The Recognition Engine values are:

  • SingleThreshold Recognition Engine - This value uses the Single Threshold setting as the boundary between an unmarked and a marked value. Bubbles whose mark density exceeds the Threshold are considered marked.
  • DualThresholdLegacyThis value is deprecated and not recommended. It uses both the Marked Bubble Threshold and Unmarked Bubble Threshold settings to determine when a bubble is marked.
Analysis Comparison Method

This value specifies if the FormFix OMR engine used by FormAssist performs image comparison processing. Requesting comparison will improve recognition and accuracy in most cases, at a moderate cost to speed.

There are three choices to choose from in the drop down:

  • None - No comparison analysis processing is performed.
  • Compare Clip To Form Model - This option performs comparison analysis processing on the field image specified.
  • Compare Full Image To Form Model - This is deprecated. This option performs comparison analysis processing on the full image specified.
Bubble Shape

This value specifies the geometric shape of the bubbles in the OMR field to be analyzed.

There are three choices to choose from in the drop down:

  • Circle - This value sets the bubble shape to circular.
  • Rectangle - This value sets the bubble shape to be rectangular.
  • Open Rectangle - This value sets the bubble shape to be an open rectangle.
Marked Bubble Threshold

This value is deprecated. It is only displayed and used when RecognitionEngine is set to "DualThresholdLegacy".

This value specifies a percentage between 0 and 100 that one or more bubbles in a field must exceed in normalized mark density before the field is considered to contain a marked bubble.

Single Threshold A percentage specifying the mark density above which a bubble is considered marked. This value is only used and displayed when Recognition Engine is set to the default value of “Single Threshold.”
Unmarked Segment Result This value specifies a result character value for a field's segment that was determined to have no bubbles marked.
Single Checkbox Field Enables controls for configuring a field that will have a single segment with a single bubble location.
Multiple Checkbox Field Enables controls for configuring a field that will have multiple bubble locations in one segment or multiple segments.
Checkbox Recognition Method
  • Shrink Area To Mark Edges - This method instructs the OmrProcessor to shrink the analysis area of the field to the edges of the mark.
  • Use Area Without Adjustment - This method instructs the OmrProcessor to analyze the area of the field as given without any adjustment.
Marked Checkbox Result This value is returned when the bubble in a single checkbox field is determined to be marked.
Marks Permitted

This value specifies if there is expected to be a maximum of a single bubble per segment marked. In most cases, setting this property to Multi Mark will require an adjustment to the Marked Bubble Threshold setting value and tends to decrease field recognition accuracy.

There are two choices to choose from in the drop down:

  • Single Mark Allowed - A maximum of one bubble per segment may be marked.
  • Multiple Marks Allowed - More than one bubble per segment may be marked.
Multiple Marks Delimiter This value determines the character for a multi mark field that is used to separate multiple result values in a field result.
Too Many Marks Result The value to be returned when multiple marks are detected in a Multiple Checkbox Field with Marks Permitted set to “Single Mark  Allowed.”
Unmarked Bubble Threshold

This value is deprecated. It is only displayed and used when RecognitionEngine is set to "DualThresholdLegacy".

This value specifies a percentage between 0 and 100 that bubbles in a field differ in normalized mark density below which field is considered to contain an unmarked bubble. For further details, see the FormFix component's help file.

Orientation

This value specifies the orientation of one or more segments in a bubble grid to the top edge of a form image.

There are two choices to choose from in the drop down:

  • Horizontal Segments - The segments in the OMR field are parallel to the top of the form image.
  • Vertical Segments - The segments in the OMR field are perpendicular to the top of the form image.
Segment Count

This value allows you to specify how many segments are contained in an OMR field.

Bubbles per Segment

This value specifies how many bubbles are contained in each segment.

Multi Segment Read Direction

This value specifies the direction in which individual segment analysis results are evaluated when building a result for a multi-segment field.

There are two choices to choose from in the drop down:

  • Top-to-bottom; Left-to-right - Horizontal fields are analyzed from top to bottom and vertical from left to right.
  • Bottom-to-top; Right-to-left - Horizontal fields are read from bottom to top and vertical are read right to left.
Segments Editor...

This tab allows you to specify the values returned when OMR determines a bubble is marked. You can enter a different string value for each bubble that can be filled in on a form.
