Annotations are an important feature of Prizm® Viewer functionality, and there are several ways to load, modify, and save annotations with or without their associated images and files.
Load Annotations
There are multiple ways to load annotations from various sources including:
-
Annotation Preferences - In the Preferences dialog box, you can select to load annotations from a Web Server, Local/Network files or Embedded in PDF or TIFF files. For more information refer to the
Annotations Preferences topic.
- Annotations from the Right-Click Context Menu - From the Right-Click menu, you can select to reload annotations (as well as Show, Edit, Revert, and Delete annotations).
- Annotation Toolbar - The Annotation Toolbar contains annotation options including Reload Annotations. The Annotation Toolbar is described in more detail in the Annotation Toolbar topic.
Modify Annotations
- Annotation Preferences - Select the default values for annotations through the Preferences dialog box. Select Preferences through the Prizm Viewer toolbar or through the Right-Click Context Menu, then select Annotations.
- Mouse Actions from the Right-Click Context Menu - From the Right-Click Context Menu, select Mouse Actions to view all available annotation options.
- Annotations from the Right-Click Context Menu - The basic annotation functions to Reload, Show, Edit, Revert and Delete annotations can be accessed by selecting Annotations from the Right-Click Context Menu.
- Annotation Toolbar - The basic annotation functions are also contained on the Annotation Toolbar which include Reload, Show, Edit, Revert and Delete annotations.
- Annotation Properties Docking Window - The Annotation Properties docking window displays the currently selected annotation properties allowing you to edit them as needed.
- Right Click on Annotations - You can right click on annotations to modify their properties at any time.
- Copying & Pasting an Annotation - You can use short cut keys to copy (Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) annotations on an image, across multiple pages in a multi-page file, or an image list file.
 |
If you are copying to the same page, the "pasted" annotation is placed exactly over the "copied from" annotation, so it is not visible unless you move it somewhere else on the image.
|
- Deleting an Annotation - You can delete an annotation by selecting the annotation with the mouse and pressing the Delete key. You can also use the short cut key to delete (Ctrl+X) an annotation.
 |
The Delete key does not work if you try to delete an annotation while using the Firefox browser. |
Save Annotations
- Annotations are saved automatically after they are created or modified.
Notes & Tips
- Opening an Annotated Image File Created in NotateXpress™ - If you open an annotated image file that was created in NotateXpress v9.0 or later (and contains an ImageTool, Ruler or Button annotation), you will be able to view the annotation. If you select the annotation, it will not display in the Annotation Properties docking window and if you right-click on the annotation, you will not be able to delete it.
- Highlight Annotation Conversion - Highlight annotations created in Prizm Viewer v7 (or earlier) are converted to yellow, translucent, borderless rectangles in Prizm Viewer v8 (and later).
- Note Annotation - The character limit within the Note annotation is limited to 4096 characters.
- Non-editable legacy Note annotation - If you are viewing a legacy image or image list file that contains a non-editable Note annotation, you will be able to mouse-over the annotation and view the Note annotation content. However, you will not be able to select the Note annotation or edit its content.
