Thumbnail items do not load until they are initially displayed. When thumbnail items are initially displayed, the ImGearThumbnailList control asynchronously loads and resizes the images using a System.ComponentModel.BackgroundWorker. The thumbnail image and marks are stored in a memory cache so they can be quickly displayed again if scrolled out of view and back into view.
