Open the TWAIN Session

Prior to Opening the TWAIN Session, the following should be done:

Set the Application's TWAIN Identity
Enable Extended Capabilities (if desired)
Set the Transfer Mode
Enable Multi-page Scanning (if desired)

The application opens a TWAIN session by calling the TwainDevice.OpenSession method. Once a TWAIN Session has been initiated, the application can read and modify capabilities, and specify instructions for scanning, such as scanning DPI and layout.
