Use ThumbnailXpress as an ActiveX Control

The following discussion assumes that your development environment is Visual Basic.

Creating an Application with Visual Basic and ThumbnailXpress

  1. Add the ThumbnailXpress control to a project.
  2. Use the ThumbnailXpress control on a form.
  3. Write code that controls the ThumbnailXpress properties and methods.

Loading the ThumbnailXpress Control Involves Adding it to a Project

  1. Open the project that will use the ThumbnailXpress control. This can be a new or existing project.
  2. From the Project menu, choose Components. The Control window appears with a list of available controls.
  3. Select the ThumbnailXpress control (i.e., Accusoft ThumbnailXpress). Click the OK button.

Other Environments

The ThumbnailXpress control is supported by a variety of host environments. To use ThumbnailXpress in other environments, consult the development tool's documentation for information on how to use ActiveX controls. As soon as the control is loaded, the following things happen:

  1. The control becomes part of the current project.
  2. A new tool is added to the Toolbox. This tool is used to draw the ThumbnailXpress control on the form.

The new control can now be used as if it were a standard control. The ThumbnailXpress control has its own set of properties and methods which can be seen by using the Properties and Code windows.
