This section describes how to upgrade from ThumbnailXpress 4 to ThumbnailXpress 5. While generally you'll be able to replace ThumbnailXpress 4 with ThumbnailXpress 5, there are a few important changes you may need to consider. This section provides information about those changes.

Library Name, GUID, and ProgID

• The library name has changed from AccusoftThumbnailXpress4 to AccusoftThumbnailXpress5.
• The GUID for the ThumbnailXpress ActiveX control has changed in ThumbnailXpress 4 from {4923F876-5D0D-43b0-BD64-671DA5545BAF} to the new value in ThumbnailXpress 5 of {570287AD-F463-43C9-B455-B8010A589DCB}.
• The ProgID has changed from ‘Accusoft.ThumbnailXpress.4’ to ‘Accusoft.ThumbnailXpress.5’ in ThumbnailXpress 5.

New API

• UsePDFXpress() has been added.
• SetPDFXSolutionName(), SetPDFXSolutionKey(), and SetPDFOEMLicenseKey() have been added; these should be used to license PDF Xpress 5.
• UsePdfXpressForPDFsOnly has been added.

Deprecated or Removed API

• UsePDFXpress4 is now deprecated, please use UsePDFXpress() instead.
• SetPDFXLicenseCodes() is now deprecated; it should only be used when using PDF Xpress 4.
• UsePDFXpress3 has been removed; it was marked deprecated in ThumbnailXpress 4.
• The EmptyCache() method has been removed; it was marked deprecated in ThumbnailXpress 4.
• The CacheMemoryLimit property has been removed; it was marked deprecated in ThumbnailXpress 4.
