To Install OCR Xpress for Linux Component

OCR Xpress for Linux comes packaged as a gzipped Tarball (tar.gz) File. You can extract the files to any location. Samples are included in the samples subdirectory.

  1. Download and extract "OCRXpress<MajorVersion>.<MinorVersion>-64.tar.gz
  2. Go to the directory into which OCR Xpress for Linux was extracted.
  3. Open a terminal window and type "./setup.sh" (for first time users, run the “setup.sh” file with root permissions) and follow the on-screen instructions.
    You may be prompted to install Java, CMake, and G++ in order to have full functionality of the installation.

By default, this will register trial licensing which allows you to develop applications, but not to distribute them. The trial license allows testing of all the functions and features.

In order to distribute your finished application you must purchase and install a fully paid license from Accusoft. The paid licenses override trial licenses.

To Uninstall OCR Xpress for Linux Component

  1. Delete the folder that was extracted from "OCRXpress<MajorVersion>.<MinorVersion>-64.tar.gz".
