Reduces image from 9...16 but grayscale to 8 bit grayscale using its 16x8 display LUT. The 16-bit image is discarded and replaced with the new 8-bit grayscale image.

Once this method is called, the display LUT is thrown away, since the image now has 8 bits per pixel. |
