The ImageGear Jpeg2000 Namespace allows you to create an imaging application that supports JPEG 2000 Standard Part I (JP2, J2K and JPC) image file formats. ImageGear JPEG2000 decoder supports the Part I of the JPEG 2000 Standard in a way that it will always attempt to decode the JP2 compatible portion of a file. It will only decode the first image of a multiple codestream file, i.e. if the file contains a JP2 Header box and multiple codestreams with Codestream Header boxes, ImageGear will use the parameters found in the JP2 Header box and attempt to decode the first codestream. The additional codestreams and all Codestream Header boxes will be ignored. If the file does not have a JP2 compatible portion that could adequately represent the image view, the ImageGear JPEG2000 decoder will report an error.
- JPEG 2000 Standard Part I (JP2, J2K, JPC) provides a set of features that are of importance to many high-end and emerging applications by taking advantage of new technologies. It addresses areas where current standards fail to produce the best quality or performance and provides capabilities to markets that currently do not use compression. The markets and applications better served by the JPEG 2000 standard are Internet, color facsimile, printing, scanning (consumer and pre-press), digital photography, remote sensing, mobile, medical imagery, digital libraries/archives and eCommerce. Each application area imposes some requirements that the standard should fulfill.
