Microsoft recommends running Visual Studio with administrator privileges. To properly use the ImageGear Samples, please run Visual Studio with elevated permissions. To run Visual Studio with elevated administrator permissions:
- Confirm you are a member of the "Administrators" group on the local machine.
- Right-click the Visual Studio shortcut and select the "Run as administrator" option from the context menu.
- Click Continue to the UAC prompt.
- To ensure you have the latest updates, after running Visual Studio, choose Help > Check for Updates.

We do not recommend that you compile using AnyCPU, as some resources are platform-specific.
.NET Frameworks
- Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 (or higher) is required for OCR.
- Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 (or higher) is required for Art, Comparison, Dicom, Evaluation, Office, Pdf, Presentation, Vector, Web and Wpf.
- Components not mentioned above require Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 (or higher).
Web Servers and Browsers
ASP.NET functionality is supported on IIS 6.0 - IIS 10.0 with the following browsers:
- Windows Internet Explorer 9.0, 10.0, and 11.0 (in compatibility mode)
- Firefox
- Chrome
- Safari
Other Requirements
The following features require the specified version of Microsoft Visual C++ to be installed on the system. These packages are typically included with Microsoft Visual Studio.
- Optical Character Recognition (OCR) requires Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 and Microsoft Visual C++ 2015
- CAD vector formats require Microsoft Visual Studio C++ 2015
- Office formats (e.g., DOCX or XLSX) requires Microsoft Visual Studio C++ 2013
- PDF and PS formats require Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 redistributable (Windows x64)
