Migrating from ImageGear v16 Recognition

ImageGear for .NET v17.3 re-introduced the ImageGear.Recognition Namespace API, which offers a set of objects that provide access to document recognition technology. It enables you to build OCR applications for the Windows .NET development environment. In addition, the ImageGear.Recognition.Forms Namespace API contains classes that offer recognition-related user interface functionality.

If you want to port applications that used the ImageGear for .NET v16 (and earlier) Recognition API to the new ImageGear Recognition API, you should review this section carefully. While the new API is similar in many respects, there are many important changes to consider.

The addition of these namespaces and corresponding functionality will only make the OCR functionality available again. If you need recognition functionality other than OCR, please refer the proper replacement product for the functionality area:

Barcode – The Barcode Xpress product provides Barcode read and writing capabilities for many 1D and 2D barcode symbologies.
ICR – SmartZone ICR/OCR provides a zonal based recognition system for hand and machine printed character recognition.
OMR – The FormFix product is a full featured recognition tool with integrated mark detection technology for identifying and process form images
MICR – MICR Xpress is a complete MICR process solution allowing for accurate character recognition and image cleanup for higher accuracy
