Presentation State (PS) objects serve the following purposes:
- Consistent display of images on various devices and media
- Storage of specific settings for display (contrast transformations, geometric transformations)
- Storage of annotations
- Special display of multiframe images
Presentation State objects do not include actual images, but a reference to one or more images.
Presentation State objects, in addition to LUTs, display parameters, and annotations, contain other tags, such as Patient/Study/Series info, Referenced Image UIDs, etc. ImageGear loads all tags from Presentation State object into a metadata tree, which is available to the application.
