ImageGear Supported File Formats Reference

This section represents the reference for every imaging file format supported by ImageGear.

The following are the characteristic features for file format description:

Full Name - Full name of the File Format
Format ID - ImageGear constant that determines the File Format ID used for loading this file in ImageGear-based application.
File Extension(s) - The used extensions of the File Format
Data Type - The type of the File Format (raster, vector, metafile)
Data Encoding - The type of data encoding. Please see the section Encoding vs. Compressing.
IG Multipage Support - Shows if ImageGear supports the File Format as multipage or singlepage. Please see also the section Support for Multi-Page File Formats.
IG Alpha Channel Support - Shows if ImageGear supports the alpha channel for the File Format or not. Please see also the section ImageGear Alpha Channel Support.
IG Platforms Support - Shows ImageGear platform versions that support the File Format.
ImageGear Supported versions - Shows the versions of the File Format supported by ImageGear.
ImageGear Supported Features - Shows the ImageGear Format Filter features supported by ImageGear for this format.
ImageGear Read Support - Provides all compressions, color spaces, channels and bit depths supported by ImageGear for the file format reading.
ImageGear Write Support - Provides all compressions, color spaces, channels and bit depths supported by ImageGear for the file format writing.
ImageGear Filter Control Parameters - Provides all filter control parameters supported by ImageGear for this format filter.

GEM	Read	GEM Paint Raster format
GIF	Read/Write	Graphic Image Format developed originally in accommodate the transmission of images via a modem; uses LZW compression algorithm
IBM IOCA	Read/Write	Image Object Content Architecture, Group III, Group III 2D, Group IV, IBM MMR, uncompressed
IBM MO:DCA	Read/Write	Mixed Object Document Content Architecture format, Group III, Group III 2D, Group IV, IBM MMR, uncompressed
ICO	Read/Write	Windows ICON format
IFF	Read/Write	Electronic Arts format
IMG	Read	Xerox raster format, Group IV
IMR	Read	IMRS-Raster image format
IMT	Read	IMNET format, Groups III and IV
JPEG	Read/Write	ANSI-standard, full-color image format; IG supports all aspects of this format including lossless and progressive; JFIF - industry standard header for JPEG compressed images
KFX	Read	Kofax format, Group IV

PBM	Read/Write	Portable BitMap (UNIX graphic file format)
PCD	Read	Kodak format for high resolution photographs

PGM	Read/Write	Portable BitMap (UNIX graphic file format)
PNG	Read/Write	Portable Network Graphics, intended as successor to GIF

PTOCA	Read	Presentation Text Object Content Architecture support for IBM's AFP printer architecture
RAS	Read/Write	SUN raster format
Scitex CT	Read/Write	For electronic pre-press and visual communications systems, part of the HandShake Foreign File Transfer Protocol, a standard for defining storage formats and data interchange protocols
SGI	Read/Write	Silicon Graphics raster format
TGA	Read/Write	Targa file format. ImageGear supports many aspects of this format including alpha channel
TIFF	Read/Write	Tagged Image File Format; IG supports every aspect of this format
WBMP	Read/Write	Optimized to support mobile computing devices that use the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP)
WPG	Read	Wordperfect Graphic Format. IG reads bitmaps stored in this format
XBM	Read/Write	X Windows Bitmap format
XPM	Read/Write	X Windows Pixmap format
XWD	Read/Write	X Windows Dump format
