FormSuite includes the PDF Xpress component for loading forms from PDF files and the ImagXpress components for loading image files.

Image Enhancement and Cleanup

Image enhancement significantly improves recognition results. ScanFix Xpress and ImagXpress components provide effective algorithms for enhancing form images prior to forms processing and forms recognition. FormSuite allows seamless integration of these image enhancement and cleanup components into a forms processing workflow.

Forms Processing

The Forms processing core engine is built on the FormDirector and FormFix components.

• The FormDirector component provides a layer for defining forms. It allows loading a form set complete with form definitions which were created using the FormAssist application. FormDirector can also find information about available fields or define a new form set for subsequent processing.
• The FormFix component is used to identify the fields on a form. The Identification processor within FormFix will identify fields in a single step. The produced identification results may be used for further form fields matching.

Recognition

The Recognition core is designed to automatically classify handwritten and machine printed inputs, extract data values from form fields using OMR, OCR, and ICR recognition technologies.

• The FormFix OMR processor is a component used to recognize check mark fields in a form. It can handle single or multiple circles or boxes, and return results based on a contextual template.
• The SmartZone component is used to recognize printed (OCR) or handwritten (ICR) text. Multiple properties can be used to increase the recognition quality by tuning the recognition engine and selecting recognition patterns.

Imaging Utilities

NotateXpress is useful for adding markup and annotation in a GUI application.
