SmartZone™ OCR Version 5 performs OCR recognition in user defined area of interest, or "zones". SmartZone OCR can be easily integrated with other Accusoft components into a robust forms-processing product.

New Features in Version 5

SmartZone OCR SDK provides easy to use samples for Visual Studio 2010, 2015 and 2017. Samples for Visual Studio 2008, 2012 and 2013 have been removed.

Primary Features

OCR (Optical Character Recognition) of English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Dutch, Portuguese, Norwegian, Finnish, Danish, Swedish and combined Western European language characters, in a zone on an image.

Regular font faces only, not italics; Zonal only, no full page.
Ability to specify expected recognition results by specifying:
- a FieldType such as date, time, and many others,
- a regular expression, or
- potential contents in a DataValidationList such as a list of possible account or customer numbers.
Ability to specify the rejection character when recognition of a character fails.
Ability to specify the confidence level at which the rejection character is used.
Ability to report multiple character results and associated confidence values.
Ability to select the expected language(s) being recognized.
Ability to select pre-defined CharacterSets for text recognition.
Ability to limit character sets for recognition to custom defined subsets of supported characters.
Support for streaming to allow communication with other components including FormFix, FormDirector and ScanFix components.
The component ships as a single DLL.

SmartZone OCR Editions

SmartZone OCR Standard: includes OCR with standard processing capabilities. It operates more slowly and has a delay of 10x when compared to the Professional edition. So if an operation takes 20 milliseconds in SmartZone Professional, it will take 200 milliseconds in SmartZone Standard.
SmartZone OCR Professional: includes OCR with enhanced speed capabilities. It operates at the speed of your processor with no delay.

Only binary images are supported in this release. The component will return an error when asked to process a color or grayscale image. Conversion from color or grayscale images is available by using the included ImagXpress or ScanFix components.
