- Background processing - if you select an image to save and then try to select an image to print, you will be prompted to either allow the save process to complete or cancel the save process to start the printing process.
- Progress reporting - you can view the status of background processing on the browser status bar.
- Image compression - while saving an image, the compression may change:
-
- PDF source images that are saved to a TIFF file format will be converted to JPG images.
- When saving to TIFF - If the input file is a TIFF file, the compression will be maintained unless you are burning in annotations and the bit depth of the image was modified when burning in the annotations. In this case (and in the case that the input file is not a TIFF or PDF file), the image will be saved with Group 4 compression if it is a bitonal image. Otherwise, the image will be saved as a TIFF with JPEG compression.
- When saving a non-PDF file or a PDF file that has been modified (for example, if annotations were burned in or if the image was rotated), the image will be saved with TIFF Group 4 compression if it is a bitonal image. Otherwise, the image will be saved with JPEG compression.
- If you close the application while a save process is still in progress, you will be prompted to acknowledge that the save process has been canceled.
When Internet Explorer is Running in Protected Mode on Windows Vista or Windows 7
If Internet Explorer is running in protected mode on Windows Vista or Windows 7 and you save a file(s), Internet Explorer will relocate the saved file(s) and display a warning dialog box: "For your computer's security, this file was saved to the Temporary Internet Files folder. Do you want to open this folder?" The file(s) will be saved to the Microsoft Windows Temporary Internet Files Virtualized folder. For example, if you save a file as C:\output.tif, the file will be saved to the location below:
C:\Users\%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Virtualized\C\output.tif
If you specify that a website is "trusted" in Internet Explorer, and protected mode is not enabled for trusted sites (which is the default setting), the warning dialog box will not display when you save files from that website, and the files will not be relocated.
