This section describes the print options you can select on the Poster tab:
Maximum Poster Size
- Shrink to fit - sheet(s) across - When this option is turned on, the poster will be constrained to the specified number of sheets from left to right. Note that it is not recommended to have this option selected along with Auto-Orient (at the same time) because the sheets will be portrait in one orientation and landscape in the other.
- Shrink to fit - sheet(s) down - When this option is turned on, the poster will be constrained to the specified number of sheets from top to bottom. Note that it is not recommended to have this option selected along with Auto-Orient (at the same time) because the sheets will be portrait in one orientation and landscape in the other.
Overlap Between Sheets
This option allows you to duplicate a small amount of the image on adjacent sheets. This makes it easier to paste your sheets together to create the final poster.
- Inches across - This is the amount of the image that will be duplicated on each sheet going across. For example, if you set it to one inch, the right-most inch of the image on one sheet will be duplicated as the left-most inch of the image on the next sheet.
- Inches down - This is the amount of the image that will be duplicated on each sheet going down. For example, if you set it to one inch, the bottom-most inch of the image on one sheet will be duplicated as the top-most inch of the image on the next sheet.
- Fill Partial Pages check box - Checking this option will cause the right-most and bottom-most sheets to be filled with a portion of the poster. Often, this will require a much larger overlap than that specified in Inches across and Inches down. When this option is unchecked, the right-most and bottom-most sheets will often contain only a small strip of the image.
- Overlap in unscaled image inches instead of paper inches check box - If the image is scaled to fit the maximum poster size, this option allows you to specify that the overlap should be scaled to match the amount of image scaling.
Attempt Poster Printing
Print a poster if the image is at least this much wider and taller than the currently selected paper size. The width or height settings will be ignored if the corresponding maximum poster size direction is set to shrink to fit one sheet. If the maximum poster size is set, the image is first scaled to fit that maximum size before performing this comparison.
- Inches wider and - This is the minimum width of a poster. If the image is wider than this size plus the width of the paper, it will be printed as a poster.
- Inches taller - This is the minimum height of a poster. If the image is taller than this size plus the height of the paper, it will be printed as a poster.
Printed Order of Sheets
- First Sheet - This is the corner of the poster that will be printed first. Whenever you change this value, the graphic on the right side of the dialog box will immediately change to reflect the new print order.
- Direction - This is the direction of printing for poster sheets (print the poster in rows or in columns.) Whenever you change this value, the graphic on the right side of the dialog box will immediately change to reflect the new print order.
