Prizm Viewer Administrator Tools

Prizm® Viewer v10 adds powerful document viewing to your Web browser. Display, annotate, e-mail, print, and save single and multi-page TIFF, PDF, CAD, JPEG, and many other files… all from within a single user interface. Prizm Viewer users have access to all product features after a simple installation. Administrator tools expose Prizm Viewer’s extensive flexibility and full benefits, enabling the creation of Enterprise Solutions for document delivery and collaboration.

This Help file explains how your organization can unleash the power of Prizm Viewer with tools for:

Flexible Web-based and enterprise deployment
Customizing your Prizm Viewer installation for end-users
Multi-file packaging using XML-based Image List Files
Controlled viewing of Web-based documents
Fully-scriptable custom Web API (for IE only)
Prizm Annotation Server (downloaded separately)

The Admin Toolkit includes a Configuration Application, designed to create an .ini file used by Prizm Viewer installers to set enterprise-wide default values for virtually all user preferences. This application lets administrators set standards for toolbar contents and layout, include or exclude specific docking windows, establish annotation settings, distribute licenses, and much more. There is a separate help file included with the Configuration Application.

If you plan to support sharing of annotations between your Prizm Viewer users, you will need to deploy a back end Prizm Annotation Server. The Annotation Server is licensed separately. See the Prizm Viewer pricing online or contact sales@accusoft.com for pricing. A separate download is available that provides JSP and ASP.NET sample code using an Access database. This can be used as a model for your own Prizm Annotation Server solution. A separate Annotation Server Help file is also included.

Prizm Viewer can be tightly integrated into a web page for access by Internet Explorer clients. This Help file includes a comprehensive API describing all of the methods, properties, and events that can be applied to build custom web pages that provide total control over Prizm Viewer as an embedded object. Custom buttons can also be programmed and added to the Prizm Viewer toolbar. Sample web pages are provided demonstrating the use of both JavaScript and VBScript (note that VBScript is no longer supported as of Internet Explorer 11).

Customers of Prizm Viewer v7 and earlier may request the Legacy Converter to convert annotations from those versions to the new XML format used by Prizm Viewer and the Prizm Annotation Server. Prizm Viewer versions 8 (and later) offer more annotation types than earlier versions, including support for the most popular PDF annotations.

Trial Mode and Licensing

If Prizm Viewer is installed in Trial Mode, your users will see a reminder screen each time they open a new Prizm Viewer window, and any images printed or saved will be watermarked.

Prizm Viewer may be licensed, either with or without PDF viewing, in three ways:

Single User Licensing - The user of the computer on which Prizm Viewer is installed may enter the serial number and registration codes when prompted during installation, or may enter them via the Prizm Viewer Preferences Licensing tab. A single-user license works only on Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. It is not for use with Windows Server.

Enterprises can automatically include Prizm Viewer licenses for users through installation customization. Refer to the documentation in the Configuration Application for details.

Multi-User Licensing - Prizm Viewer can be licensed for use on servers, where the software is not running on the client computers. This includes Prizm Viewer running as a Terminal Service or using any virtualization solution. Server licensing is for Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Server 2008 R2. It cannot be used with Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7.
Web Site Licensing - Prizm Viewer can be licensed for a Web server by specifying the license string in an <object> or <embed> tag. The Web server can deliver a CAB file installation, including the Web license. The license is stored permanently on the client computer, which is then licensed to access files on that server. The client computer can also access other sites, and local files, in Trial Mode.
