Work with SVG Documents

Prizm® Viewer provides the ability to display and print SVG files. Because Prizm Viewer is designed to support non-dynamic images with absolute widths and heights, there are some limitations on SVG image support.

Opening SVG files from the desktop with IE 11 is currently not supported.

Animation Support

Most animation capabilities in SVG are not supported. Prizm Viewer only supports animation elements that are driven by mouse events. These animation elements include “begin” attributes with “mouseover”, “mousemove”, and “mouseout” values. They must also have short duration values, preferably less than one second long. Any animation element not meeting these requirements may animate erratically, incompletely, or not at all.

Link Support

References to external objects are only supported through xlink:href attributes in “a” elements. These objects are opened in a new window or tab. In order to initiate these links, the user must select the SVG Interaction tool and click on the portion of the SVG image containing the link.

Image Dimensions

Prizm Viewer supports SVG images that do not contain absolute width or height values. In order to support these images, the images are displayed in a letter-sized area (8.5 inches wide by 11 inches tall).

SVG Rendering Engine

Prizm Viewer uses the Gecko engine to render SVG images. The engine comes from FireFox version 19.0. Any limitation that is present in FireFox version 19.0 is also present in Prizm Viewer.
